![]() ![]() It is not consumer-friendly in the least. It's harder to learn than probably any other bundled scanner software. It's not just a matter of VueScan not being ScanSnap. But I also agree with the author of the article: I think VueScan is fantastic and a life saver for my old scanners, which include a Nikon film scanner. If the time comes when I must get a new document scanner, you can be sure that I will be looking at other companies. But I won't be holding my breath that Fujitsu will be going out of its way to make us whole. The article includes an email address for contacting Fujitsu to register our unhappiness with its handling of software upgrades. ![]() It's a real shame that Fujitsu's answer to customers who own functioning older models is to buy a brand new scanner. Fortunately, the third-party scanner software ExactScan developer is working on a ScanSnap version that will be released shortly. The article has lots of helpful info and the comments section also has some good tips. Since I am moving to a 2018 Mac Mini running Mojave (I don't plan on upgrading to Catalina any time soon.) this is a subject of interest to me. Some people have problems with certain functions in High Sierra while Sierra appears to be the last OS that is pretty much glitch-free. I have an 8 year old S1300 that does what I need when running High Sierra. There are also reported problems with Mojave and earlier OS versions and the 32-bit ScanSnap software. In a nutshell, the new 64-bit ScanSnap software is not usable with old models. TidBITS just published an article about testing VueScan along with general info about compatibility issues with older ScanSnap models and the Mac OS.
