![]() My attempts at trying to figure out what the dll being imported contains have resulted in a lot of random symbols. With my very limited skill in programming I was able to find that EnergyManagement.dll has a class that states the following: Basically, I have found no settings in the unlocked menus that need to be changed from default. BD PROCHOT throttles the CPU when the system detects that the GPU is running too hot but in my experience this machine doesn't actually use this throttling mechanism so this setting doesn't really matter. Deep S3 is a deeper sleep state that reduces battery discharge when on DC power. The first two settings are already in the stock BIOS and the last one is only available in the modded one. The only three settings I have changed are enabling the always-on USB port, enabling deep S3 function, and disabling BD PROCHOT. A lot of them have arcane names and some don't do anything or could make your system unbootable if adjusted incorrectly. It was only after resetting the BIOS settings to default that my USB port came back.Įven though I consider myself to be relatively computer-savvy I would not tweak any BIOS settings I am not familiar with. The last time I did, I unwittingly disabled one of the USB ports and thought for the longest time that the port was broken. I have no need to adjust the fan speeds so I have not messed around in the BIOS and don't intend to. But there are a ton of thermal and power management settings and some of them do seem like they would do the trick. I don't actually know if there is anything in there that will allow you to control fan speeds. The modded one unlocks all the hidden menu options that aren't there originally. ![]() But yeah is that option to adjust what temp the fan kicks in in the modded 2.02 BIOS but not the original one? I'm waiting until my post count goes up so I can download the attachments. If I disable automatic updating, then I don't see any network connections in my network monitor. The option for this is in the BIOS? I have practically nothing in mine, but I still have the one it came with on here. I can even control the automatic updating myself. Very important for me, Argus respects privacy. I had initial concerns about the reliability of a software regulation, but they have gone away now. I have not had a crash so far, or noticed any strange or 'buggy' behavior. It seems very lean programmed and has little resource consumption and also no additional 'bloatware' as with the tools of the motherboard manufacturers. Current hardware is supported quickly and generally very good product maintenance, felt high quality. Here are some more points that I particularly like in general: In most cases, I can already do without other system tools. The combination with the temperature measurements/graphs complement Argus perfectly. It's almost fun to build your profiles with all the possibilities. ![]() Manually I like to use it to test which fan behaves how or in my 'render' profile where I set all fans fixed to 100%. Depending on the situation/profile, I have all of the options in use. The whole range of fan control, from manual control, bios scattered to averaging over a period of time and hysteresis is an 'all-round carefree package'. I recently renewed my 1 year plan and even decided against the cheaper 3 year version because I like to support Argus with a payment every year. I just want to report that back as praise. For me it is by far the best program for fan control and an incredible help to keep my workstation cool and quiet. ![]() „I have been using Argus for some time now. NONE of them could deal with my Lenovo hardware (with dual GPUs), that I have. Prior to stumbling across your product, I had tried maybe a half dozen other fan apps. Features, update support, safety precautions, etc. „I have to acknowledge, you and your team have created a phenomenal fan control app. Thank you very very much, please do keep up the good work“ You have created something incredibly reliable and function-rich that I truly appreciate. I am now the proud owner of a PC quieter than I could have ever imagined. It is safe to say that Argus Monitor has absolutely saved my life. Every piece of software out there seems to have some kind of critical defect that makes it completely unusable. I never managed to get my GPU fully quiet. „For years I have had problems with fans in my various PCs all spinning up and down for seemingly no reason whatsoever.
